Launching Rocket Science…

Posted by on Nov 13, 2013

My name is Futureboy 5000 and I brew new songs out of old sci-fi movie quotes, vintage video games and heavy dance beats. People say it sounds like Daft Punk mixed up with Super Mario and Star Trek. The retrofuturistic dance album Rocket Science has been launched to iTunes, Amazon, XboX Music, Rdio and Spotify. But first: fasten your Spaceship Seatbelts and check out my music videos Got to Be Drunk and Life on Mars! If you like the videos, please support Your New Favorite DJ From Outer Space by spreading the word on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or YouTube. Even back in 4014, that was a cool thing to do. Really 🙂 Follow...

U Can’t Touch This by Savant

Posted by on Nov 12, 2013

One thing you should do right now – if you have 8 minutes or so – is listen to MC Hammer’s 1990 track U Can’t Touch This. And then listen to Savant’s song with the same title: Savant is a very talented music composer and I’m happy he chose the “loud side of things” as his sonic playground. This one is so great because the lyrics are brilliant too. If you like it, be sure to check out this other work. Follow...

Are you “Ready to go down and get some Moon Rock?”

Posted by on Aug 27, 2012

This weekend Neal Armstrong passed away at the age of 82. On twitter I mostly see jokes about people *confusing* Neal, Lance and Billie Joe Armstrong. That’s okay, I can’t help finding some of them quite funny actually. But it always feels uncomfortable to make fun when someone just passed away. I myself am just a guy that makes some music and happens to be inspired by *outer space stuff*. Probably because it can make your imagination run wild. In the unknown and far future, anything can happen. That’s why I call myself Futureboy 5000. But Neal Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the real Futureboys. If you have some time it’s great to check out the full transcript of their conversations when they landed on the moon. This is the future, for real. And it happened over 40 years ago. Science but not Fiction: “Okay. About ready to go down and get some Moon rock?” Follow...

8-bit Nintendo Style Album by Monomer

Posted by on Jul 7, 2012

One in a while you hear some music that really captivates you. By browsing through CD Baby’s catalogue of independent chiptune artists I found a great 8-bit style soundtrack. The artist Monomer (Gavin Allen) composed this soundtrack for a retrostyle video game called Ranger Wars. But it is a great listen even without playing the video game. Great compositions, fantastic melodies and chiptune grooves. If you love the music of the Mega Man video game series – like I do – this album is a Must!! Do yourself a favor and give it a try on Follow...

And meanwhile I’m busy working on a full album, mixing up dance beats, old movie quotes and 8-bit video game sounds. Talk soon, Futureboy 5000 Follow...
